Continuity of Care

IMPORTANT NEWS
Your Oncologist is STILL in the HealthCare Partners Network

We understand you may have received a letter from HealthCare Partners that your Medical Oncologist was terminated.  However, we would like to clarify that LA Cancer Network (Los Angeles Hematology Oncology Medical Group) and all our Providers are STILL contracted to provide services to HealthCare Partners members.

HealthCare Partners lowered the per-member, per-month capitated contracted fee for HealthCare Partners Region 2 members.  Due to the significant reduction, we would not be able to provide the same level of quality care that you are accustomed to, and therefore have decided instead to continue to provide services at fee-for-service for HealthCare Partners Region 2 members.

What Will Happen To Me and My Cancer?
Your LA Cancer Network Physician and Staff are committed to giving you top quality care.  We will assist you in whatever way we can to make sure your treatment is uninterrupted.

Will Your Medical Benefits Change?
No. All of your benefits and services through HealthCare Partners will remain the same.  However, you have a right to Continuity of Care under California State Law, and to receive appropriate care with the Provider you are currently seeing.  If you require continued service due to your current treatment plan, LA Cancer Network Physicians will continue your care to comply with State Law.

What Options Are Available To Me For Specialty Care?
You may call your primary care physician to request a referral to another specialist within HealthCare Partners.

  • Under Continuity of Care regulations of California State Law, you may be eligible to stay with your current Specialist with LA Cancer Network. If you require continued service due to your current treatment plan, LA Cancer Network Physicians will continue your care to comply with CA State Law.

You may keep your appointment that is already set with an LA Cancer Network Provider, and we will discuss your treatment plan with you when you come in.  We will assist you with any care coordination needs should they be necessary.  You may also send an email to questions@lacancer.net
